Green Beans Pulao

  • 1 cups Basmati rice
  • 200 g Green beans
  • 1 Onion (diced)
  • 1 Star anise
  • 1/2 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 1 pod Cardamom
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 2 cups Chicken stock/ Vegetable stock
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil


  • Wash the rice and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, chop up the green beans and onions.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add in the whole spices and bay leaf, saute for 30 seconds. Add in the onions and green beans, saute till the onions turn translucent.
  • Pour in the chicken stock and season with salt and pepper. Bring to boil and add in the washed rice and give it a good stir. Close the lid and let it cook for 18-20 minutes over low heat. Serve hot along with your favourite side dish or have it on its own.
