Dried Shrimp and Raw Mango Curry/ Unnaka Chemmeen Pacha Manga Curry

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Dried prawns/ shrimp
  • 1 small Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Raw mango (cut into chunks)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • For grinding
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • For tempering
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 Dry red chillies
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • 1 cup Dried prawns/ shrimp
  • 1 small Onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup Raw mango (cut into chunks)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 4-5 Curry leaves
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
  • For grinding
  • 1/2 cup Grated coconut
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 inch Ginger (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin seeds
  • For tempering
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 2 Dry red chillies
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Coconut oil
Directions
  • Step 1 Clean the dried prawns and dry roast it for a 5 minutes over low heat. Set it aside.
  • Step 2 Heat coconut oil in a pan, add ginger, chopped onion and curry leaves, saute till the onion turns translucent.
  • Step 3 Add turmeric and chilli powder and saute for a minute.
  • Step 4 Add in roasted prawns and mix well. Pour in the ground coconut mixture and add raw mango chunks and a cup of water. Mix well and bring this to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Step 5 Heat oil in a small pan, add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves, mix it for a minute and  pour this over the curry. Serve warm with rice.
