Chicken Chukka

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Chicken (cut into medium pieces)
  • 1 Onion (sliced)
  • 1 Tomatoes (chopped)
  • 5 Garlic pods (chopped)
  • 1″ Ginger (chopped)
  • 2 Green chillies (slit)
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 2-3 Dry red chillies
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/3 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Garam masala
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Method

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add in bay leaf and cumin seeds, let it crackle. Then add chopped ginger and garlic, saute for a minute. Add in the sliced onions, fry till it turns light brown.
  2. Add in the green chillies, curry leaves, dry red chillies, saute for 2 minutes.
  3. Now, add turmeric powder, kashmiri chilli powder, coriander powder and saute for a minute on low flame.
  4. Mix in the chicken pieces, put the lid on and cook the chicken till it’s well done (about 15 minutes).
  5. Open the lid, add in chopped tomatoes and garam masala and mix it in well on high heat. Chicken chukka is ready to serve!
